Pedestrian, Traffic and Cycling Improvements

Street improvements at the intersection of Nickson Street and Cleveland Street, Surry Hills. These works will increase pedestrian, bike and public transport access while improving safety and greening our streets.

What work is being done?

• New raised footpath continuation

• Stone kerb extensions

• New garden beds

• Kerb and gutter

• New concrete footpath

• Installing new stormwater pipes

• Constructing new stormwater pits

• Linemarking

The estimated construction period is November 2019 to April 2020.

Work will be carried out during the day between 7:30am and 5:30pm, Monday to Friday, and 7:30am and 3:30pm on Saturdays and during the night between 8pm to 5am, Monday to Thursday.

The intersection of Nickson Street and Cleveland Street will be closed for 24 hours during construction.

Night works will take place on Cleveland Street on 27 November and between 2nd and 5th of December 2019 from 8pm to 5am due to RMS (Road and Maritime Services) restrictions.

We will take steps to minimise any impacts on local residents and business owners. However, there will be some machinery noise, temporary parking restrictions and alternative access for people walking.
